It’s by no means revolutionary stuff, but a welcome added level of complexity that makes you consider which powers – or even which Spider-Man – are best for a given job. But you can play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, switching between the heroic Spider-Men on your crime-fighting adventures to experience their individual gameplay abilities and story elements.

Miles’ friendship with Peter Parker will be tested as they take on more nefarious Super Villains such as Venom and Kraven the Hunter, and Peter’s exposure to a strange symbiote will only escalate the super-powered showdown. But even with the situation going from bad to worse, Miles has never been one to back down from doing what’s right.

The custom console is a new black, white, and red design, intending to highlight Symbiote tendrils encroaching on the Spider-Man logo. The DualSense features the same color scheme and pattern, with the Spider-Man logo front and center on the touchpad. Like the first two games, the true star of Spider-Man 2 is its story. It finally gives us the chance to jump between playing as either Peter or Miles as the two work together to protect New York City from Kraven, a fierce warrior looking to transform the city into his hunting ground. Their personal lives don’t fare any less stressful–Peter and Miles are both stuck, struggling to figure out what’s next for them.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is the next first-party PlayStation title for PC, launching on April 3rd. Bryank75 clarified that PC plans are still in motion, but added that “some of them suck”. Interpret this as you wish, but don’t expect a Bluepoint remake to appear anytime soon. The scale of Boletaria, its castles and swamps and underground depths, was always impressive. Winding corridors and large open spaces are more detailed, and now convey a better sense of place.

All you need to do is reach the end of the corridor, turn right, and you’ll find the entire set. Several gaming news sites have commented that because the Demon’s Souls Remake was released at the Future of Gaming event, it’s a PS5 exclusive. This may be true but before it’s confirmed as fact, more reputable sources are being pursued. DLC for Demon’s Souls and Demon’s Souls Remake features additional content of the game that is not available with the regular edition of the game. DLC usually contains pre-order bonuses, free additional content, paid packs, and game expansions.

Like the other Souls games, part of the fun of Demon’s Souls is its difficulty–it’s a world where enemies can lay you out with just one or two hits, demanding that you be attentive and careful if you want to succeed. One aspect of Demon’s Souls that will be addressed is its bugginess. Players could take advantage of the game’s unpolished state to cheaply attack certain bosses through the game’s fog doors — barriers that wall off rooms where boss fights happen. Players won’t be able to exploit those bugs in the remake, Moore says, but other, far less consequential, meme-worthy bugs and game design quirks will be properly retained. The listing has a November 19 release date affixed to it, which makes sense considering that’s the international launch date for the PS5 and most of its launch titles. I loved the contempt of one blacksmith’s dialogue in the original Demon’s Souls, for example, but he now sounds less harsh. I miss the sadness in Stockpile Thomas’ voice when he tells me that I have a heart of gold, and that I must protect it. Unlike the original Demon’s Souls, the PlayStation 5 game lets you send items in your inventory to storage from anywhere, a helpful quality-of-life change. Demon’s Souls resurrects a game that could have easily become a historical footnote overshadowed by its more popular successors. In the process, it also manages to get everyone excited about the potential of next-gen console gaming. It’s the best next-gen launch game and a damn good entry into the Soulslike genre.

Players dedicated to a Strength build should wield this weapon and also consider adding the Crushing upgrade. Over the past decade (and especially since June), Demon’s Souls players have fantasized about a remake of the game, assembling wishlists of improvements. One highly requested feature that some Demon’s Souls fans were hoping for was a new region to explore. The original game featured five major areas, accessible by five archstones. But there’s a sixth (cracked) archstone in the game’s hub world, the Nexus, which is believed to have led to a canceled portion of the game called the Northern Limit or Land of the Giants. One change that will affect players’ encumbrance — aka how much stuff their character can carry — is how much healing grass they can hold.

I don’t hide the fact that I’m a genuine PlayStation fan, wearing PS symbol t-shirts often and sporting my Crash Bandicoot controller holder — it’s not really a secret. So getting to literally dig up fossils of the past and then have the physical representations of my nostalgia gamified within a game even further was just magical. Toro the cat filled the role to a degree in Japan but he never fronted any major games and has since faded from the limelight.

But now there is a new challenger and while Astro isn’t much of a character his games are becoming some of the best in Sony’s line-up. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – Just after the pinball area you will slide across some ice blocks. This puzzle piece is just after one of the ledges you drop down on the blocks. You can hold the touchpad button down to bring yourself to a stop on the ice. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – In this same pinball area, knock out the 6 bowling pin enemies around the center bumper to make this puzzle piece appear.

Puzzle Piece 1/4 – At the second checkpoint instead of going forward, go to the left and up to a platform where you can find a spot to blow into the mic. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – When you reach the next checkpoint, before going down the ramp, follow the path back to the right where you can hit a small jump which propels you into the air to grab this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After going underneath the large controller statue and entering the road area, this puzzle piece is on the left on the section of music chips.

Yes, the game is a great showpiece for the PS5’s DualSense controller, applying its haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and motion-sensing technology to a variety of inventive situations. But Astro’s Playroom is much more than a tutorial; it’s a joyful and polished platformer that ushers in a new generation of PlayStation hardware with a big smile. To add the four bots to Astro Bot, play until you’ve completed the first nebula and unlocked the Crash Site hub. Here, you can continue to unlock additional collectibles, including puzzle pieces and bots to add to your totals.

This references Ridge Racer, released on the PS1 in 1994 and developed by Namco. The car being driven is the one of the game’s boxart, the F/A Fiera, also known as the Kamata Fiera. After defeating the stone dragon boss and reaching the start of Mt. Motherboard, look to the left to spot two fighters, one victorious over the other. The scene depicts the canon ending of the game, where Kazuya Mishima is victorious over his father Heihachi. About halfway into the level you’ll cross over a DualShock Cable that is then blown by a fan.

Ghost of Tsushima was the last first-party PlayStation game developed exclusively for the PS4, after which the PS5 released. What this means is that if you, say, reach a Checkpoint with 10 Coins, then pick up 5 more Coins, then die, you’ll respawn at the Checkpoint back at 10 Coins, and need to collect the other 5 Coins again. What this means is that holding X to jump will make Astro jump higher compared to just tapping X, which will only give a short hop.

Astro’s Playroom – Review

Each bit of grain is felt through your hand, which makes it intense in the best way. Then, the magic starts happening when these features are combined. Take when you’re exiting the beach and you’re walking against the fans that are blowing sand across you. The microphone makes the wind more intense while the vibrations of the sand are felt as the controller feels like a sandstorm.

The game is a fantastic tech demo for the DualSense controller while also being an enjoyable platformer in its own right. Astro’s Playroom has been described as a love letter to PlayStation, as the game is full of references to past and present Sony franchises. As you’re exploring Playroom’s levels you’ll also stumble across Astro Bots wearing a blue cap and holding a camera. They’re mostly there for the fun of it all rather than to accumulate anything, but every single one of them made me smile, even the few that I had to take a moment to try and guess at. I won’t spoil any more here so as to not rob anyone of the joy of first discovering them.

For a free game that comes with the PlayStation 5, one largely designed just to showcase all the bells and whistles of Sony’s next-gen DualSense controller, Astro’s Playroom is surprisingly fun. It’s not just a great toybox to experience the DualSense’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, microphone, and more, it also delivers the best proof-of-concept pack-in I’ve played since Wii Sports. This is a truly joyous homage to PlayStation history, as well as an experimental platformer I can only hope to see turned into a larger experience during the PS5’s lifetime. Astro Bot Rescue Mission is a 2018 platform video game developed by Japan Studio’s Team Asobi and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4’s PlayStation VR headset. It stars a cast of robot characters first introduced in The Playroom, where they appeared as robots that lived inside of the DualShock 4 controller.

Alongside the Nintendo 64 and Sega Saturn, the PlayStation was one of the first video game consoles to specialize in 3D graphics. Early models featured RCA jacks for video and audio output and a Parallel I/O port, but these were all removed by the 1999 models. At the top, wait for the last block to slide left so you can stand on the left-hand side. Use a jump and Beam Glide to land on top of the block (just like you did before), then ride the block left through the Coins. From here win79 can jump left one last time to land on a button that reveals a Yellow Trampoline.

As you get better at playing games, you’ll get better at being able to make things up as you go. Aside from being a technical showcase, Astro’s Playroom is also a game that was clearly made with a lot of care and passion. Each world is themed after a particular computer component, and one of the main goals is to collect secret items that are all pieces of classic PlayStation hardware. There’s even a trophy room where you can interact with them, using your little robot hands to turn on a gigantic PSP Go, or hop on the eject button of an original PlayStation to see the lid pop open. At its most basic, Astro’s Playroom is a fairly straightforward platforming game. You play as a cute little robot named Astro, exploring four different worlds set in a universe that appears to exist inside of a computer.

Puzzle Piece 3/4 – In the third hang glider section you will need to avoid a number of mines that appear in the air. Just before reaching the platform at the end, a puzzle piece will appear directly in the middle of the area that you need to grab before landing. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – When crossing the tightrope while being blown to the side, jump over to the platform with the flower.

Throw the cannister with the net inside at the blue aura when the lock-on symbol appears to reveal the Special Bot. Go under the bridge and immediately on your right pull the exposed cable cords to grab a throwable canister with a net inside. Punch the shell to reveal a steering wheel, then stand in front of it push the Options button to bring up the map. Go to the far right corner of the beach, next to the building, on the opposite side of where the Gran Turismo Astro Bot is. Proceed through the stage as normal until you reach the first dynamite enemy.…

So often that’s where magic in video games happens, and that’s most certainly the case here. On its own, this is a beautifully crafted, exquisitely paced and absolutely gorgeous 3D platformer. Combined with the hardware it’s bundled on, it’s something very special indeed – and one of the best launch titles I can remember in an age. A tech demo shouldn’t have this much of a following, but that’s the power of Team Asobi’s Astro’s Playroom. The Astro Bots made their debut with the PlayStation VR tech demo, The Playroom. They showcased the capabilities of the VR device and left an impression on the higher-ups at Sony.

It would then be updated six times over the years with new games and revised menus; the logo is from the 1996 version. Next to the PocketStation described above are two cylinders containing the sacred symbols in the form of clouds. This likely references PlayStation’s cloud functionality, which serves as the backbone of the PlayStation Now service that launched in 2014.

For 100% completion in Astro Playroom‚ explore every nook and cranny in each level to find hidden collectibles like puzzle pieces and artifacts. Use the environment creatively‚ such as spinning or jumping in specific ways‚ to uncover hard-to-reach items. Take advantage of the DualSense controller’s features to interact with objects and enemies in unique ways.

From the opening moments when it teaches you about the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback it never stops impressing all the way until the very end. There was once a time when pack-in bundled games were regarded as the very best games available for that new console. You bought a Super Nintendo to play Super Mario World because it came in the box.

Astro’s Playroom

With rotating platforms, ones that disappear shortly after stepping on them, and lightning platforms that can take out Astro in one hit. That is basically it, a game that even small kids (6y) can play and enjoy. It also uses the capabilities of the controller in creative ways that hopefully all games capture in the future for a better experience. You need to jump to the left to reach a room with another rotating platform. Puzzle Piece 4/4– While on the floating ice platforms, this puzzle piece is in the air while you are on the second one. Artifact 1/2 “PS Move Navigation Controller” – From the start of the area pull up the wires on the right to grab a throwable item, then throw it at the platform to drop it into the water. Jump across and pull the three small wires, followed by the revealed large middle wire to get this artifact. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – From the start of the area, go to the left and go through or around the igloo to find this puzzle piece. Artifact 1/2 “PS Move Sharpshooter”– After jumping up through the two slanted glass panels, jump to the left to an area with a wooden box with a diamond on it.

The globe is LittleBigPlanet itself, covered in badges that represent levels from players around the world. If you’re new to platformers, or video games in general, you may find yourself rushing in and dying quickly for seemingly no reason. If this happens a lot to you, try stepping back and observing the obstacles ahead. Study the movement of platforms, observe what enemies are up ahead, and plan your approach accordingly.

These portions are also pretty forgiving, with generous checkpoints and obstacles that provide just enough resistance to make you pause a moment, but not so much that you get stuck. Plus, it’s hard to get too mad with the game’s infectiously upbeat soundtrack going in the background. A number of special bots were added to Astro’s Playroom in the months leading up to the release of Astro Bot.

The game’s 16 levels feature nasty little bots to defeat, and little secrets and character cameos to find, such as the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy 7 or Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. Levels have Astro jumping on fluffy clouds in Memory Meadows, skating along the ice in Cooling Springs, or blowing up asteroids in a later level in SSD Speedway. Astro’s Playroom was a tech demo dedicated to the DualSense, PlayStation 5’s signature controller. The controller cames packed with a lot of new technology, making it incredibly unique.

Land on the next switch to the left to lower some more platforms above. Jump up the platforms to the top, but keep an eye out on the top-left to spot Puzzle Piece #2. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – When going down the section where you are blown by two clouds, make sure to stick to the right after the second cloud to get bounced to this puzzle piece. Artifact 1/2 “PlayStation Memory Card” – Just ahead there will be a split in the road with a path on the left with a danger sign.

In this fun platformer, explore 4 worlds based on the console’s components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay using the new features of the PS5 DualSense™ wireless controller. One way Astro Bot cleverly sows the seeds of these concepts – which do a remarkable job of consistently tricking my brain into buying into the different topography – is the lobby hallway ahead of each world. Before jumping into any of the locales (all of which are just a simple animation away, with no loading screens in between), the portal to each world features the type of terrain you’ll primarily encounter.

It’s good when you say other critically acclaimed games aren’t doing it well. That’s not to say all games aren’t doing this, as Returnal and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 used the controller capabilities to the max. Press the Options button on your controller whilst next to the blue steering wheel to bring up the Map Menu; you should hear the sound of an engine revving up. Jump up the steps and head right to get to the top of the structure and to a line of asteroids (which will be guarded by Spitters and other various enemies). Continue along g28 (a line of Coins will appear when you do this), and around the corner you’ll find a tiny astronaut toy.

Playstation 5 Pro

From the beginning of the level, follow the wooden path forward through the grass and up to Checkpoint 2. Tug the cables to the left of it to reveal some steps up to the next area. Continue following the wooden path forward to the next wall, defeating three Knockers and a Spiky as you go. Both the roller ball and the ship suits were easily the best of the ones on offer. Considering both get more interesting levels after their introduction.

PaRappa in particular is famous for being the first rhythm game ever created. They’re cut-outs because all the characters were 2D in their games. After the melting snow platform section down the river, on the right side you can see two Bots by a door with a Bot further on in a lab coat. This refers to 1996’s Resident Evil on the PS1, developed by Capcom. The two characters are Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, while the lab coat Bot is series villain Albert Wesker. The door is a reference to show the game hid loading times, by showing a shot of a door opening to disguise the load between rooms.…

On the surface, it’s another thrilling superhero story packed full of surprises, cameos, and Easter eggs – but there are deeper meanings to be found here, too. There are also smaller stories at play, though, ones that may seem less important when compared to city-wide chaos, but feel like potential world-enders to those who inhabit it. Both Spider-Men tackle the most extreme examples of trying to manage a work/life balance you can imagine, exploring a range of personal issues including strained relationships and loss that plague us as humans, no matter how superpowered we may feel.

Its allowance for Steam Controllers and use of the Steamdeck Verification pleased long-time players. What’s more, each version of the title that hits PC is essentially the most complete iteration. That means that DLC, costumes and any glitch fixes are already built into the game. Although there’s some bug support needed post-launch, for the most part, Insomniac’s rollouts have been remarkably simple. In Miles Morales’ long list of suits, you’ll spot one eerily familiar one called Best There Is. The suit’s name is a reference to the popular Wolverine quote from the comics, “I’m the best there is at what I do, but what I do isn’t very nice”.

That being said, I can’t help but have hoped for a few more flashes of Gotham City to make their way into New York. Miles still gets his time in the spotlight, however, and has some fantastic moments towards the end of the main campaign, even if some of the more interesting explorations of his Puerto Rican/African American culture are reserved for side missions. Obviously, what you take away from the story and its diverse cast of characters will be unique to you.
